Dr. Kate Spere

Dr. Kate Spere is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  She has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an Applied Developmental Emphasis from the University of Guelph.  Dr. Spere has extensive experience working with children and teenagers.  Her clinical training included work at a local school board, the Selective Mutism Service at McMaster Children’s Hospital, a pre-doctoral internship at Hamilton Health Sciences, and placements at kidsLINK, and the Centre for Psychological Services at the University of Guelph.  Prior to opening this clinic in 2014, Dr. Spere worked as an associate in a large private practice in Waterloo.  She has also taught a university level course on Learning Disabilities.  She is a member of both the Canadian Psychological Association and the Ontario Psychological Association.

Dr. Spere is passionate about her work and is committed to helping children and teens reach their full potential.  She provides therapy to children and teens for a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, and behavioural issues.  Dr. Spere uses an integrative therapeutic approach, tailoring the treatment strategy to each child’s unique presentation.  She also provides comprehensive psychological/psychoeducational assessments for a variety of presenting problems including learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and other mental health concerns that may be interfering with a child’s capacity to learn.  Dr. Spere also enjoys consulting with parents, families and teachers to problem solve the best strategies to support a child or adolescent.

Dr. Spere lives in Waterloo Region with her husband and three young boys.
